Stand Januar 2014

Some pre-work for the next building in Visp, BVZ Werkstätte, are done. The building will be made out of plywood and balsa sheets layers. The windows will be cut with the laser while the foundation will be done with vinyl sheets (see November 2013).

Eine neue Servohalterung.

A new design for the servo mounts.

The old mount had some problems and it would have not been easy to add an end switch for the frog polarization.

The new mount has the advantage that the wire can be fed from the top. I can bend the wire and will never scratch myself again.

The servo gear rod is closer to the plywood board and with that the wire is shorter. I believe the bending of the long wires are the problem of humming servos.

The end switch can be adjusted precisely.

The servo arm can now be adjusted to the real middle position.

To drive the signals, which will not have a direct influence on the trains, I will program an Arduino module. First I took on the signals in the station Visp.

For example, Track 1 to Zermatt has following signals: 3 combined brake test and departure signals on different locations (C1), plus a 3 light main signal.

For more information go to my Arduino side.

Oscar Baars, a fellow model railroader from the Nederlands, who is building a BVZ layout (tandrad webside), sent me those pictures from the old remise in Visp.

I wanted to re-create this scene on my layout but the old SWS trucks are not available. I was able to design the trucks with some lasercut parts and Evergreen plastic profiles. Those are only dummy trucks since even the wheels are made out of cardboard. Pictured is the truck with the cogwheel brake system. Each passenger and freight car on the MGB has a truck with and a truck without the cogwheel brake system.
